Propeller Services

Your propeller is key to the mechanical movement of your boat. With a damaged, wrong or dirty/fouled propeller your boat will not perform as efficiently as it could. The marine engineers at Purbeck Marine can help by offering advice or pointing you in the right direction to getting it right whatever size your boat is.
Purbeck Marine, Poole, Dorset has all the tools and knowledge to remove most types of propellers. We have a variety of different pullers and specialist large sockets/spanners for the largest shaft nuts. Our experience in removal, resetting, assembly and installation of feathering and folding propellers means you do not need to look anywhere else for this kind of marine engineering service for your boat.
We supply bronze, stainless steel and aluminium propellers and can offer high quality propellers at very competitive prices. Most aluminium and stainless steel propellers can be ordered on a next day service.
We also have a close working relationship with local propeller refurbishment firms who can carry out repairs, pitch adjustments and clean-up of used or new propellers.
Propeller Shafts
We at Purbeck Marine Ltd install, replace, repair and supply many different size and length of propeller shafts every year. We generally work on diameters between 19mm and 75mm, imperial and metric but can easily work on smaller or larger if required. We have a facility available to test shafts for bending and can also have propeller shafts straightened if needed.
Shaft Couplings

We can repair or supply all types of fixed and flexible shaft couplings and have some very comprehensive equipment to remove or install them.

Stern Gland

Cutlass Bearings
We are well known for our abilities to be able to inspect or replace almost any cutlass bearing in any craft, we have over 40 years of experience and specially designed equipment to carry this out, we even have the strut pro kit available to remove most p bracket bearings without the need to remove the propeller shafts. we carry out works on sailing yachts, motor boats, commercial craft and commercial ferries and have never been beaten by the most stubborn and awkward bearings that we have come across, please enquire for more
Rope Cutters

Rope cutters are an important safety option available for all types of craft.
We can supply, service, repair and fit all types of rope cutter, we normally deal with Mmpi, Spurs and Ambassador cutter systems.
